Now, everyone has opinions on what the "best" fast food restaurant in the US is. And strangely enough, I'm different! I don't really have an opinion on what I believe is the definitive best is, but I DO have an opinion on which one's are greater than others! So that is what this will be all about! I mean, why not, y'know? So here we go!
First off, we've got the GOAT, the American staple, McDonald's. I think of McD's as the perfect midpoint of fast food. Some items taste pretty damn nice for fast food, and some items are only good for nostalgia and nothing else. For example, I LOVE the Filet-o-Fish, specifically the double Filet-o-Fish. It's just so satisfying to bite into! And the tartar sauce works so well with it! (Though I always get extra, they almost give you enough on a normal one.) And then on the other end, you have something like the McChicken. Now, there are THOUSANDS of people who'd rip my goddamn head off for saying that, but remember that this is just an OPINION, geniuses of the internet. So here's the thing; in the past (i.e. 6+ years ago), it was a solid ass sandwich. But nowadays, I just think it's kind of bland. Especially with the amount of chicken sandwiches we have around now, it's just a lackluster, forgetful experience. And the texture when biting into it feels... strange. It's no longer something you should order.
Next up, Taco Bell. First things first, Taco Bell is NOT Mexican food. You want real Mexican food, go to an actual restaurant, like El Agave in Baltimore. (Obvious bias?) Anyway, Taco Bell. So, I've gotta say that it's JUST below McDonald's, mainly because 80% of the items taste the exact same. They have an ability to make "new" items once in a while, and they usually taste like almost the entire rest of their menu, a perfect mixture of goo and crunch. That's not necessarily BAD, but it does leave a lot to be desired. To give them credit, some items actually are their own thing (mostly), like the Doritos Locos Taco. But most of it is just goo and nothing else. Sorry not sorry, Taco Bell!
Now for a good one, Culver's! Located in over- wait, 26 states? I didn't even know that till I made this post! From their home of Wisconsin, to Florida, Texas, to up in North Dakota! I don't know how well-known Culver's is, but I think it's underrated. Their "butterburgers" are nice and flavorful, but where they really shine is their custard! Oh my GLOB, it is magical! They have a fish dinner on their menu, and it is fantastic! But for me, the greatest thing is their crinkle cut fries. Nobody talks about them! Literally one of the greatest fries in ALL of US fast food. They're crispy yet fluffy inside, and salted to perfection! Culver's is on top right now, 100%. It is unbelievable that someone will read this and say something like "Uhh, actually, Burger King's fries are SO much better." If you're that person, please stop reading this. I basically have nothing good to say about Burger King.
Scratch that, I will say Burger King's hash brown discs, when hot, are damn nice.
Hmmm, how about some pizza? I'd comment on Pizza Hut, but I'm the kind of psycho hasn't had it often to form an opinion. So instead, I'm talking about Domino's, baby! I almost want to say I LOVE Domino's, but that'd be the tiniest exaggeration. I do like it a LOT, though! Firstly, pizza, obviously. I'd usually get a large Memphis BBQ Chicken pizza, then customize it to my liking, and, my God, does it work well! I'm the crazy person in a group who likes pineapple on pizza, and it just works so well! The combination of salty chicken with sweet barbecue sauce, and sweet pineapple is filled with flavor. Now their other items, mostly, are also pretty damn great! The stuffed cheesy breads are crispy, fluffy, AND cheesy, and their pastas (though they seem like a weird option) are surprisingly tasty. The only thing I'd say to not really bother with is probably the "specialty chicken". Most of them are quite mediocre, and don't give you something to look forward to. All the flavors of the "specialty chicken" can be perfectly replicated on a pizza, and it'll taste better. Oh, the sandwiches too. Just... don't bother. Who goes to Domino's for a sandwich anyway? Just about every other fast food restaurant in the US that serves sandwiches makes them better. Seriously.
I think this is going to need a part 2, my hands are cramping typing this. See you there!
